End of Year Prize Giving and Display
The end of year prize giving and gymnastics display will be held on Saturday 8 November at 10.30am at the Onslow College Rec Centre (the gym on the left side of the main drive). This display is always very entertaining, highlighting the skills and talent of our gymnasts without the pressure of competition. This event is the one time of the year when we can bring together both the competitive and general gym classes. We encourage family and friends to attend and we will be having a sausage sizzle at the end of the display sausages $1.

General Gymnastics Intermediate Class Comp
On the last day of Term 3 the Intermediate General Gym class held a class competition. The girls enjoyed the experience and it was an exciting way to end the term. The placings were as follows:

OGC Gymnasts at Nationals
Congratulations to Lisa Marsden and Emma-Jane Kortegast who competed for Wellington at Nationals, held at Mystery Creek in Hamilton in the October School holidays. Lisa came 33 out of 64 level 5s, Emma-Jane came 48 out of 55 Level 6s, and Sarah Dunn, ex-Onslow club came 10 out of 22 level 7s and came 4th on vault finals on day two. Sarahs level 7 Wellington team came 2nd.
Fundraising
At our club competition in August we managed to raise $2,800.00. This was a fantastic effort and thank you to everyone who contributed to such a successful day.
New Equipment
During the Term 3 holidays the club purchased the following new equipment for the General Gym classes. hula hoops, small and large jazz balls, small bean bags, scarves, ribbons, tennis balls, and another parachute. You will also notice new weights for the competitive classes. These will be much appreciated by all the classes.
Parental Assistance
To lighten the load of our busy coaches we would really appreciate:
- help with the set up and putting away the equipment at all classes both competitive and general gym.
- children to be kept off the equipment unless they are under the supervision of one of our coaches.
- siblings to be kept quiet and off the equipment.
Sponsorship
In a bid to control costs next year the committee is looking for sponsorship for uniforms, bags and new equipment. If any parent is aware of any potential sponsorship sources could they please contact Kathy Dunn on Tel: 478 9217

Thank you
Thank you to Christine Dean who has faithfully served on our committee for a number of years doing enrollments, fundraising, uniforms, and numerous other tasks. Christine has been such an asset to the club and she will be greatly missed on our committee in 2009.
New General Gym Class
Owing to the popularity of our General Gym classes we have introduced a new intermediate class on Fridays 3.30 -4.30pm at the Onslow College Rec Centre. If you would like to enroll your daughter in this class please contact Lihn Bluhmsohn, Tel: 479 1776 Email: lihnb@yahoo.co.nz
New gymnasts for 2009 can also enroll. We cater for girls General Gym from 5 years to college age and we hold Competitive classes as well.
